Helloooooo.
Leeds Indie Food Festival has been in full swing this month, due to piles of revision, (and to be honest a lack of planning), I've missed most of the cool events that have been on, however, I did make a last minute decision to pop down to Leeds Feast on Saturday night!
Leeds Feast is a 2-day event that displays the best of the Yorkshire's independent food and drink traders, each day showcasing different companies. We didn't realise it was open all day on the Saturday so missed out on some of the food, however we still managed to try a few bits and speak to some of the traders.

As a massive fan of Oriental food, I decided to try Dorshi Dumplings. For £5 I got 5 steamed dumplings in a tray coated in a dipping sauce and crisp toppings like garlic. I decided to try the special - Minced lamb, anchovy puree, courgette, chives & garlic. I've eaten Dorshi Dumplings before when they were at Trinity Kitchen before, and they were just as good as I remembered. Dorshi are a mobile kitchen that freshly source as much of their ingredients from the UK and freshly produce all their food.
My friend tried a Chicken Roll from Rita's - deep fried chicken served in a white brioche bun.
Rita's is an eatery in Hackney.

To finish off, we decided to go to the Northen Bloc truck to try some gourmet ice-cream. Northern Bloc are currently mobile ice-cream truck, but are looking to open a shop front and stock in supermarkets in the future. They have a daring yet delicious selection of ice creams & sorbets. We tried 4 different flavours (L to R); Bourbon Vanilla, Black Treacle, Ginger Caramel & Early Grey and Lemon. So basically, this was the dreamiest ice cream and sorbet ever, and they mix and match their flavours perfectly. I'm pretty much counting down the days until I can buy their products in a supermarket...
After spending the evening at Leeds Feast I concluded that I'll definitely plan better next year for the Leeds Indie Food Festival, because if all the events were as good as this I really missed out! Next year I'll definitely be heading down to the Tetley for both days.
Goodbye Leeds Indie Food Fest until next year!
